The feud between ace Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra and NRAI (National Rifle Association of India) became ugly on Monday as the association left the Olympic gold medalist out of the next two Shooting World Cups as well.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) today announced that Bindra would not be included in the Indian team for the Shooting World Cup as he failed to attend the shooting trials.
A tussle between Abhinav Bindra and the NRAI had been raging for the past few days. While on one hand the association criticised the shooter for not attending the trials for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, on the other, Bindra threatened to quit the sport if not allowed to prepare for the games his way.
Bindra, was thus, excluded from the Commonwealth Games, that is to be played in the national capital later this year. The Sports Ministry later intervened and requested the NRAI to include Bindra in the team.
The NRAI, however, said that it will accept Bindra’s scores for inclusion in squad for third and fourth World Cups.
